It's been over two decades since Liz Barker first graced our screens as a beloved presenter on Blue Peter , quickly becoming a household name for a generation of viewers. The BBC host, 50, helmed the popular children's show from 2000 to 2006 before stepping back from the limelight to focus on life outside of television. Post-Blue Peter, Liz dabbled in a range of projects, from working in local radio to moonlighting as a cake decorator in her family's bakery business. In addition to her career pursuits, she embraced domestic life, raising four children with her husband, Michael Todd. Liz has grown both personally and professionally, but despite carving out a path away from the camera, the TV star is still warmly remembered by those who grew up watching her. Liz rose to fame on BBC children's TV show Blue Peter after making her first appearance in 2000. Some of her adventures on the show saw her paragliding and and walking a high wire in a circus. She soon became a fan favourite after winning viewers over with her high-adrenaline adventures and love of fun. She also hosted the programme from a variety of different countries, including India, Greece , Vietnam and Morocco, and in a special episode in Las Vegas, presented singer Elton John with a Gold Blue Peter badge. During her six years on the BBC show, Liz worked alongside Matt Baker, Konnie Huq, Zoe Salmon, Liz and Gethin Jones. Liz announced she was pregnant with her first child with husband Michael Todd. She had son Dexter in 2004, who made a number of appearances on the show. The star then returned to Blue Peter, but announced she was leaving in 2006. Shortly after her exit, Liz welcomed her daughter Poppy, and also had son Rocco in 2011 and Gus in 2013. Liz then decided to turn her back on TV, and spent a number of years working in her family's bakery business as a cake decorator. She also set up a vintage interior business and a package for primary schools to help children succeed in PE lessons. Liz said goodbye to Blue Peter with the show paying tribute to her with a special This Is Your Life! episode. She made the announcement during her last show that she would be hosting a CBBC show Totally Doctor Who alongside Barney Harwood. More recently, Liz self published her debut poetry collection called Sweet Fanny Adams, which focus on motherhood and everyday life. She has remained close friends with her Blue Peter co-star Konnie Huq, who appeared on the show for an impressive 11 years. The pair are regularly seen together on Instagram , with Liz sharing a snap of them travelling on a train together on a getaway. Since leaving Blue Peter, Liz has spent several years working as cake decorator for her family's bakery, but she hasn't completely left the wonderful world of the media. She has appeared as a voiceover artist in numerous games and radio plays, as well as launching her own poetry book.
