He threw 104 pitches, getting the Dodgers to swing and miss on 23 of them. In addition to Yesavage’s dominance, he out-pitched Blake Snell, a two-time Cy Young award winner who signed a five-year, $182 million deal this offseason. Yesavage put the Blue Jays in position to take a 3-2 lead in the series as it heads back to Toronto for Games 6 and 7. After going just four innings in World Series Game 1, Yesavage showed why he’s a budding star on Wednesday night on an even bigger stage. Who is Trey Yesavage? Yesavage, 22 was drafted by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 2024 draft. He shot up the minor league ranks this year, pitching at Single-A, High-A, Double-A and Triple-A before making his MLB debut in mid-September. He made just three starts this regular season — sporting a 3.21 ERA across 14 innings — before starting Game 2 of the ALDS against the New York Yankees, pitching 5.1 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts.
