EXCLUSIVE: Michael Naizu and his brother John Wilcox have rounded out the cast of their indie coming-of-age drama, Bound for Glory, with the addition of Blake Jenner (Everbody Wants Some!!), Jaime King (Sin City), Chris Kattan (Saturday Night Live), and newcomer Sydney Thomas.
Bound for Glory tells the story of an Asian American actor ready to leave Hollywood for good who finds every exit blocked by friendship, new love, and an unexpected break — until he chooses who he truly is and wants to be. As previously announced, Janel Parrish and Naizu are also set to star.
Naizu, Derik Young, and Redd Coltrane are producing, with Charlie Waddell and Sean Casy as executive producers. Nikki Nguyen is casting, with production to kick off in Los Angeles later this month.
In a statement to Deadline, Naizu said, “This cast is beyond anything I could have even dreamt of. It means so much to me to have actors I grew up watching and deeply respect want to be in our film. One of my first jobs in LA was actually a co-starring role on Netflix’s What/If, where Blake Jenner was a lead. He couldn’t have been kinder in welcoming me, and to now be starring alongside him in Bound For Glory is pretty surreal. Also, the film is part love letter and part breakup note to Hollywood, so shooting in Los Angeles is significant for us—we hope to inspire more opportunities and encourage filmmakers to keep bringing productions back to LA.”
Jenner is repped by Realm Talent, Vision Entertainment and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; King by Global Artists Agency and Myman, Greenspan, Fox; Kattan by Singular Artists, Fourth Wall Management and Cohen & Gardner; and Thomas by CAA.
