Black Stars set for Asian tour as preparatory tests for 2026 FIFA World Cup

As the Black Stars edge closer to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed an exciting Asian tour in November, featuring international friendlies against Japan and South Korea — two of Asia’s football powerhouses.

The tour kicks off on November 14 in Toyota, Japan, where Otto Addo’s men will compete in the prestigious Kirin Cup. Ghana will then travel to Seoul to face South Korea on November 17, rounding off a thrilling double-header.

Both Japan and South Korea have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, and are expected to field full-strength squads, offering Ghana:

A tactical litmus test
A chance to assess emerging talents
A platform to fine-tune systems ahead of continental and global competitions

The tour aligns with the GFA’s broader strategy to keep the team active and competitive, while giving Addo room to experiment and evolve.

Ghana currently tops Group I with 22 points, following their emphatic 5–0 win over the Central African Republic in Morocco. The team now turns its attention to the final qualifier against Comoros on Sunday, October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium, where a draw will seal their place at North America 2026.

With confidence soaring and tactical cohesion improving, the Asian tour offers a perfect bridge between qualification and preparation — reinforcing Ghana’s ambition to compete among the world’s elite.
