Black Rabbit: Will The Netflix Show Get A Season 2? Here's What We Know

This article contains spoilers for Black Rabbit.

After a year that has already given Netflix huge success with originals as varied as Adolescence, KPop Demon Hunters, Hostage and The Thursday Murder Club (not to mention the return of shows like Wednesday, Squid Game and Love Is Blind UK), Black Rabbit has become the streaming giant’s latest hit show.

The dramatic crime thriller stars Jude Law and Jason Bateman as two estranged brothers whose reunion turns both of their lives upside down, and since it premiered last week, it has been consistently hovering around the top of Netflix’s most-watched chart.

Now that many of us have binge-watched all eight episodes of Black Rabbit, the question is: could a second season be on the horizon? And on that front, we’ve got some good news and bad news…

Will Black Rabbit get a season 2 on Netflix?

Black Rabbit was created as a miniseries, meaning its creators never intended for it to have a future after its original run.

And following the events in the series finale – which ties up almost all of the characters’ storylines, as well as killing off one of its leads – it seems unlikely that their stance on that is about to budge.

“It was a story that had a beginning and an end and everyone was there to serve this tight but closed story,” Kate Susman said during an interview with Esquire.

“The idea was always for it to be a limited series for a number of reasons,” she also told TheWrap.

What have the creators of Black Rabbit said about the future of the show?

That being said, though, if you were hoping to return to the world of Black Rabbit in the future, you could be in luck.

Kate told TheWrap: “As soon as we got on set and realised what we had with the crew and what we had been able to put together with the cast and the producing team, everyone was kind of like, ‘Why are we ending this? This is a good thing we got going here’.

“There are so many storylines I still want to follow.”

With that in mind, Kate has insisted that a Black Rabbit spin-off is something she’d definitely consider in the future.

“I want to know what happens with Mancuso!” she enthused, referring to Oscar winner Troy Kotsur’s character in the show.

Her co-creator (and husband) Zach Baylin also teased: “Hopefully, people will watch and like the show. Then, you know, maybe we get to explore some of those other avenues.”

Black Rabbit is streaming now on Netflix.
