About Avneet’s film Love in Vietnam
Love in Vietnam is a cross-cultural romantic drama that brings together Indian and Vietnamese cinema. Directed by Rahat Shah Kazmi and produced by Omung Kumar, the film stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Avneet Kaur, and Vietnamese actress Khả Ngân. The story is inspired by the 1943 Turkish novel Madonna in a Fur Coat by Sabahattin Ali and showcases a poignant love story set against the backdrop of Vietnam’s scenic landscapes.
The film premiered at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival in July 2025 and was released theatrically on September 12, 2025.
News18 Showsha gave Love In Vietnam 1.5 stars out of 5. A part of our review read, “The second half drags viewers into Manav’s unbearable “Kabir Singh lite” transformation. With long hair, a forced beard, brooding stares, and sudden angry outbursts, the makers clearly tried to mold him into a Shahid Kapoor-esque figure. But while all the surface ingredients are there, the impact is completely missing. It feels less like a character arc and more like a half-baked attempt to add “toxic charm” for the sake of drama. Unfortunately, it doesn’t land.”
“No spoilers here, but let’s just say the climax makes so little sense, you’d start questioning your life choices. You can actually take multiple snack breaks, scroll Instagram, even have a nice chat on call outside the theatre with your friend and came back still finding Manav being a majnu for no reason.”
