BJP files complaint against Revanth Reddy for 'anti-Army' remarks

The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of making “derogatory, inflammatory, and false” statements during a campaign speech for the Jubilee Hills bye-election.The complaint, submitted on Friday, was led by BJP Floor Leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, Deputy Floor Leader Payal Shanker, and MLC Dr C Anji Reddy. The leaders alleged that the Chief Minister’s remarks insulted the Indian armed forces and violated the Model Code of Conduct.According to the BJP’s representation, Revanth Reddy claimed in his October 31 speech that “Pakistan has kicked at India’s back” and that “India failed to bomb them.” The party described these statements as “baseless, misleading, and deeply disrespectful” to soldiers who took part in Operation Sindoor and other counter-terror missions. The BJP further alleged that Revanth Reddy accused the party of adopting a “carpet bombing” strategy in the Jubilee Hills constituency and suggested that the BJP should “bomb Pakistan instead.” The complaint also stated that the Chief Minister referred to Union Ministers from Telangana as “shameless.”.preferred-source-banner{ margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom:10px;}Party leaders said the remarks were defamatory and intended to provoke hatred and tension among voters. They also accused the Chief Minister of “threatening and blackmailing” voters by allegedly claiming that welfare schemes such as Sanna Biyyam (fine rice), 200 units of free electricity, 25,000 new ration cards, and free bus travel for women would be withdrawn if the constituency did not vote for Congress.Calling the remarks a “clear violation” of Election Commission guidelines, the BJP urged the CEO to take strict legal action against Revanth Reddy and bar him from further campaigning in Jubilee Hills.- EndsPublished By: Akshat TrivediPublished On: Nov 2, 2025Tune InMust Watch
