BJP acting under health mafias: AAP protests against closure of mohalla clinics

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday stepped up its attack on the BJP government, accusing it of shutting down Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics under pressure from “health mafias” even as the city faces a worsening pollution crisis that the party described as a full-fledged public health emergency.Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj joined a protest in the capital against what he called the BJP government’s deliberate effort to dismantle neighbourhood healthcare services. He said the BJP’s actions were aimed at benefiting private hospitals and nursing homes at the expense of the poor.“If the BJP forms the government, it will close all Mohalla Clinics and stop facilities meant for the poor. Despite their claims that no clinic or service would be shut, they are now closing around 200 Mohalla Clinics. These closures are meant to benefit private hospitals and nursing homes while burdening the poor,” Bharadwaj said at the protest.AAP also shared a cartoon-style graphic on X, depicting a locked Mohalla Clinic and accusing the “four-engine government” of working at the behest of health mafias. The image claimed that 200 Mohalla Clinics had been shut, leaving doctors jobless and patients with no option but to seek costly private treatment..preferred-source-banner{ margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom:10px;}The protest came a day after AAP leaders warned that Delhi’s deteriorating air quality had already reached emergency levels. The party said the BJP-led administration had ignored the pollution crisis while focusing its attention on election campaigning in Bihar.Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said the “four-engine government has ruined everything,” and accused it of abandoning citizens in the face of toxic air. “People are left to protect themselves because this government is not going to do anything for you,” he said.Saurabh Bharadwaj said the situation had become unbearable for families. Former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia also weighed in, calling the crisis both environmental and political. “Delhi is facing a full-fledged public health emergency. It is not Delhi’s air but the BJP’s mindset that has become toxic,” he wrote on X.AAP leaders alleged that the BJP was downplaying pollution levels by manipulating air quality data, a charge theBJP has repeatedly denied.- EndsPublished By: Priyanka KumariPublished On: Nov 4, 2025Must Watch
