Bizarre moment at Stormont as MLA asks 'who nicked my phone?'

Stormont’s Principal Deputy Speaker Carál Ní Chuilín was left astonished after the SDLP’s Newry and Armagh MLA Justin McNulty questioned whether another MLA had stolen his phone in the chamber. The incident occurred on Monday night as the Assembly was about to adjourn and Mr McNulty had just spoken in a debate on access to CAR-T Cell Therapy. Raising a point of order as Ms Ní Chuilín was about to adjourn the sitting, Justin McNulty rose to his feet to ask who had stolen his phone. “Who nicked my phone? Somebody stole my phone!” Mr McNulty declared across the chamber . Taken aback, Principal Deputy Speaker informed him that she would ask Building Services to find out who stole the phone before she adjourned the sitting. Belfast Live understands that Mr McNulty has since had the device returned. For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our politics newsletter here.
