Birsinghpur Hospital Chief Medical Superintendent suspended over alleged remarks against CM

Lucknow: The Senior Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of a government hospital in Birsinghpur has been suspended and booked following allegations of using indecent language and making objectionable remarks against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In addition, the state government has also initiated a departmental inquiry against CMS Dr Bhaskar Prasad on several other charges, including the alleged remarks.According to news reports, the incident came to light after a video went viral on social media showing a conversation between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state spokesperson Vanshraj Dubey and CMS Dr Bhaskar Prasad, which sparked outrage. In the video, AAP members were seen protesting outside the government hospital in Birsinghpur, alleging poor facilities, absentee doctors, and a shortage of medicines. Also read- Sola Civil Hospital paediatric resident doctor suspended after viral video controversyThey also claimed that patients were being prescribed medicines from outside, which is strictly not allowed at government hospitals. During the conversation, Vanshraj reportedly said, “If the hospital’s condition doesn’t improve, we will take out your funeral procession.” To this, Dr Bhaskar allegedly replied, “If you want to take out a funeral procession, take out the government’s or Yogi’s, why mine?”Following this, a local BJP leader filed a complaint at Jaisinghpur police station against Dr Prasad for using objectionable language against the government and the Chief Minister. Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR against him, as reported by the Indian Express. Soon after, AD Health Ayodhya, Dr Brijesh Kumar Singh Chauhan, reached the hospital for investigation. He questioned the CMS privately and spoke to patients. The inquiry found that medicines were being prescribed from outside the hospital. The AD then submitted a detailed report to the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Health Department. On October 26, 2025, the Joint Secretary of the Department of Medical Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education, Uttar Pradesh, issued an order suspending the CMS and initiating a departmental probe against him.The order stated, "Dr. Bhaskar Prasad (2070-11363), Principal (Medical/3) / Senior Chief Medical Superintendent, 100-Bed Joint Hospital, V. Singra Mau, Jaunpur — against whom departmental inquiry/disciplinary action is contemplated — is hereby placed under suspension under Rule 4(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1999."According to the order, the reasons for his suspension include using indecent language and making objectionable remarks against the State Government, misbehaving and exhibiting unruly and undesirable conduct towards patients admitted in the hospital, and improperly handling hospital test cases, thereby violating Rule 4(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1956."The suspension order of Dr Bhaskar Prasad shall take effect from the date it is received by the Office of the Director General, Health and Family Welfare, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. During the suspension period, Dr Bhaskar Prasad shall be entitled to subsistence allowance as per Rule 24. During the suspension period, the headquarters of Dr Bhaskar Prasad shall remain the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Jaunpur, and he is instructed not to leave the headquarters without permission. This order shall come into force with immediate effect," the order reads. Responding to the allegations, Dr Bhaskar told Dainik Bhaskar, “I went to receive a memorandum from the AAP leader on the SDM’s orders. I didn’t know some people were secretly recording videos as part of a conspiracy. My intentions were not wrong.”Also read- MP Cough Syrup Deaths: IMA slams Paediatrician's arrest as unfair
