A supermarket petrol station was sealed off by police this afternoon after a pedestrian was struck by a car. The collision happened at Morrisons petrol station in Rubery, located off Bristol Road South. Blue police tape wrapped around the perimeter of the garage's forecourt which was closed whilst officers carried out enquiries. Ben Perrin, our reporter at the scene, was told that officers had arrived at the garage at around 3.15pm. He said a "massive cordon" was in place. In a statement issued to BirminghamLive, West Midlands Police said the petrol station will be closed for a "short time". It did not specify exactly when the garage was likely to reopen. A force spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in attendance at a petrol station following an earlier minor collision involving a car and a pedestrian. "The petrol station will be out of action for a short time." We have contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service for comment.
