Birmingham boozer backs campaign to 'protect' pubs and calls for change

A Birmingham boozer ‘at the heart of the community’ called for a cut in taxes ahead of the Autumn Budget. Located in Moseley , The Patrick Kavanagh supported Long Live the Local, a campaign formed in 2018 to highlight the rise in pub closures. Over 230,000 people have signed the petition which calls for a reform in business rates, a beer tax cut and reduced VAT on food & drink. Mr Parker said: “We’re all aware what the price of alcohol is at supermarkets. “I’m not sure there’s an appetite for the government to address those issues. “There’s been a reference to business rates reform, which I’m a fan of. “Too many of our small businesses are paying too much tax and bearing too much of a burden. “When I meet Rachel Reeves about what we need to do, a reform on business rates is the top of the agenda. “I will campaign for those reforms because I think that will have an immediate benefit on our pubs.” The Patrick Kavanagh is located on 142 Trafalgar Road, Birmingham, B13 8BX.
