A Boston cocktail bar and lounge “inspired by the golden age of travel” will have its last day of service on Halloween. Birds of Paradise in Brighton will permanently close after Friday night, Oct. 31. “We’d like to thank the Brighton community for the last couple years at the Speedway,” the establishment wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday. “To all of the staff, past and present, thank you for taking part in our journey around the world,” the post read. “Come and take one or two final flights with us.” Birds of Paradise, which opened in 2022, is spearheaded by Boston restauranteur Ran Duan, who said the entire concept behind the cocktail lounge is traveling and escapism. “The menu is going to be based on plane tickets. Think of Pan Am,” Duan told The Boston Globe in 2022. “We thought, especially with the timing of the pandemic, the space, and everything that’s been going on, it was the perfect concept with the perfect timing to get people to travel somewhere they miss.” Birds of Paradise’s “Global Drink Menu” is described as having “cocktails that will transport you from one city to another using common ingredients, spirits, and spices found in each location.” Guests can either order one of four signature cocktails or opt for the “Pilot Choice” where the bartender will concoct something off-menu. Guests are also encouraged to order food from neighboring concepts Salsa Shack Street Tacos or Pizza Project. Birds of Paradise is located at the Charles River Speedway in Brighton, at 525 Western Ave. The bar opens at 6 p.m.
