The Buffalo Bills defeated the New Orleans Saints 31-19 on Sunday, with Josh Allen delivering another impressive performance.
Allen passed for 209 yards and threw two touchdowns, although he also had one interception. In addition to his passing, the 29-year-old quarterback excelled on the ground, rushing for 45 yards and scoring once on seven attempts.
Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski graded all the quarterbacks from Week 4 and awarded Allen a B+.
“Last week, this space pointed out that Josh Allen didn’t need to be Superman or make the type of plays everyone has grown accustomed to seeing from the NFL’s reigning MVP, and the Bills still won,” Sobleski wrote Monday.
“During Sunday’s meeting with the Saints, Allen took over when a lesser opponent was a little bit too close late in the contest, with a 27-yard rough-and-tumble scramble on a 3rd-and-5 situation followed by a 28-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dalton Kincaid.”
Josh Allen Wasn’t Happy With The Team’s Performance
Although Allen performed well, he was disappointed the Bills didn’t score on every drive.
“We want to go out there, and we want to score on every single drive,” Allen said Sunday, via A To Z Sports. “Every time we stall or turn the ball over or punt, for that matter, we feel like it’s a disappointment. We’re going to watch this film and try to learn from it and put ourselves in better situations early on in the game and try to stay as two-dimensional as possible and go from there.”
The Bills had only one turnover, indicating they played relatively well. Allen must have been frustrated that the Saints, who had not won a game, came into Orchard Park and kept the score close for almost four quarters.
Sometimes, great NFL teams play down to their opponents, but luckily, the Bills didn’t lose; it just wasn’t as impressive as Buffalo usually wins.
The Bills Need to Watch Out For New England
Buffalo is in a good position moving forward, and this week they play a New England Patriots team that improved to 2-2 after a win over the Carolina Panthers.
The Bills will need to keep an eye on New England, as young quarterback Drake Maye has performed well in the first four games, while head coach Mike Vrabel is getting the team on track.
New England could easily find itself undefeated if it hadn’t turned the ball over five times in its Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which ended 21-14. Additionally, the Patriots had numerous opportunities to defeat the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1.
If the Bills can beat the Patriots, it would put them in the driver’s seat for the AFC East, having won three games against their division opponents with three left to play.
Buffalo will play the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers after New England, both of which are very winnable games, before welcoming the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 2.
The Bills need to take it week by week and secure a win over the Patitos first on Sunday Night Football.
