Bills 'Recently' Called About Best WR On Trade Block

The Buffalo Bills have 24 hours to make this roster better as they continue their perennial push for a Super Bowl. This weekends massive win over the Kansas City Chiefs will likely embolden a front office that has been known to strike at the NFL trade deadline. A recent report shows that the 6-2 second place Bills are swinging for the fences. “Buffalo just logged a tough win over the defending AFC champion Chiefs, but the Bills may be eyeing upgrades to Josh Allen’s weaponry, with The Athletic reporting the club recently approached the Saints about a possible deal for Olave, New Orleans’ top wideout,” reports Cody Benjamin for CBS Sports. “The Saints are still expected to retain their No. 1 pass catcher, but other teams are doing their best to explore his availability.” As far as the trade block landscape is concerned in the NFL, Chris Olave is as high on the totem poll as they come. The 25-year-old posted back to back one thousand yard seasons in his first two years in the league. Last season injuries derailed his yardage, but this year he is once again tracking to break four digits. Russini’s Original Report Says Chris Olave Is Staying On one hand, the New Orleans Saints don’t want to give away their single most promising player. On the other, the organization is going nowhere fast. They swung and missed on a round two quarterback in last year’s draft, their new head coach is 1-8 through his first two months, the two best players on their defense (Demario Douglas and Cameron Jordan) are 36-years-old. At some point, it’s time to blow the whole thing up. However, in The Athletic’s Diana Russini’s original report, she maintains that Olave is not for sale. “The Bills were one of the teams that inquired in recent weeks about Saints WR Chris Olave,” Russini wrote. “New Orleans is still expected to retain its top wideout.” The Bills Should Sell Out For Olave Think about the Bills roster since losing Stefon Diggs. The single most glaring short coming has been in the pass catching game. Josh Allen won the MVP last season without a 1,000 yard pass catcher. In the post season, only one player had more than six receptions and that was Khalil Shakir. A young stud like Olave represents a long term piece that will help the Bills achieve their ultimate goal. Unlike Amari Cooper, a trade for Olave wouldn’t be a playoff rental. The fourth year receiver would represent a key piece that soldifies the only weakness on this offense for four more years. A core of Josh Allen, James Cook, and Chris Olave would give the front office the liquidity to focus on the defense for half a decade. They should spare no expense to make this move happen.
