There is no denying that Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen is one-of-one. The reigning NFL MVP propelled his team to a huge win over the rival Kansas City Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football” and set unique league history during the win. During the Bill’s win, he rifled off two rushing touchdowns, leading to his name being etched into football history next to a surprising position. With seven rushing touchdowns on the season, Allen is now the only quarterback and sixth player in history to record eight consecutive seasons of at least seven rushing touchdowns. Per a release from the NFL, the Bills‘ signal caller now joins a small list that includes Hall of Fame running backs such as Marshall Faulk and LaDainian Tomlinson. “Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen completed 23 of 26 pass attempts (88.5 percent) for 273 yards and totaled three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing) in the Bills’ 28-21 victory over Kansas City. Allen, who has seven rushing touchdowns this season, became the first quarterback and sixth player ever with at least six rushing touchdowns in eight consecutive seasons, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk (10 consecutive seasons from 1994-2004), LaDainian Tomlinson (10 from 2001-10), Jim Brown (nine from 1957-65) and Thurman Thomas (eight from 1989-96) as well as Derrick Henry (eight from 2018-25),” the NFL stated in a press release. This is proof of just how special he is. The Bills were struggling in recent weeks, but they snapped their two-game losing streak by dominating the Carolina Panthers 40-9 in Week 8, and followed that up with a huge win over the Chiefs in Week 9. At 6-2, the Bills are now one game behind the first-place 7-2 New England Patriots. Nobody quite expected the Patriots to contend in the manner they have, but now the AFC East is a foot race between the pair. The Bills’ Week 9 win not only cemented the Bills as an AFC favorite, but it showcased just how dangerous both the offense and defense can be when playing against an upper-echelon team. Early season struggles aside, Allen is proving why he was named the 2024 season NFL MVP, and his performance thus far could lead to another nod for the coveted award. The Bills will play the Miami Dolphins in Week 10, and could jump ahead of the Patriots, as they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Either way, Allen continues to show why he is one of the most unique and talented players in the NFL, and at the quarterback position.
