Bilaad Realty Pledges Support For Bridging 28m Housing Deficit

As Nigeria’s housing gap, estimated at beyond 28 million units, continues to grow, one of the country’s leading developers, Bilaad Realty, says it is determined to keep tackling the challenge through innovation, sustainability, and smarter building solutions.

Speaking in Abuja as he assumed the firm’s leadership, the new chief executive officer, Dr. Emmanuel B. Usman, pledged to consolidate Bilaad’s reputation as a pioneer of modern living in Africa. He stressed that the company’s mission goes beyond construction, pointing to a strategy that integrates technology, green housing practices, and an expanded real estate value chain.

“Our subsidiaries and new ventures will be given the room to thrive, positioning us not just as developers, but as pioneers of modern living in Africa. This will be in terms of sustainability, technology, and lifestyle. Bilaad Realty will continue to lead”.

“We must become more purposeful in how we reflect on cost; work out for ruthless efficiency through an intentional war on waste.

We must move into zero-commit strategies to cut costs, grow great, and develop an attitude of seeking value for budgeting,” he said.

Usman added that the company’s culture of excellence would not waver: “Our mission is not only about bricks and mortar, but about embracing smart solutions and expanding opportunities for value creation across the sector.”

The outgoing CEO, Aliyu Aliyu, who reflected on the company’s growth since its early days, described Bilaad as a “living testimony of vision transformed into concrete,” recalling how sleepless nights and bold strategies helped turn the firm into a household name.

He revealed that over the past eight years, the firm had delivered homes in communities from Bobowasi Island to BoraBora and Bali, and stressed that its projects were designed not only to sell houses but to create safe havens.
