The political fervour in Bihar is high with just over one week to go for the first phase of the high-stakes Assembly elections on November 6, as the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan go up against each other in key seats. Polling in Bihar will be held in two phases — on November 6 and November 11 — and the counting will take place on November 14. With the Bihar elections fast approaching, it’s essential to know which candidates are contesting in your constituency. In order to know about your candidates, you can go to the official site of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and click on ‘Current Elections’ under ‘Election Management’ section of the drop-down menu. After this, you need to click on ‘Assembly Election’. After that, you need to select ‘Candidate Affidavits’, which will take you to the page where you can check candidates from any constituency. All you need to do is enter the state, phase and constituency in the top menu to check the candidates. You can also reach the page through the ECI Unified Portal website. After doing so, you need to select ‘About Elections’ and click on ‘Know Your Candidates’ You can also use the ECI Unified Portal to check voter turnouts, report Model Code of Conduct violations, book a call with your nearest Block Level Officer (BLO) and even search your name in the Voter List. Who’s Contesting On First Phase? The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is scheduled on November 6, with several heavyweight leaders in the fray, including opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Hari Narayan Singh. The elections are expected to be a high-pitched affair, with the BJP-led NDA highlighting years of misrule and ‘jungle raj’ under RJD chief Lalu Yadav, while the opposition has centred its campaign on unemployment, migration and caste politics.
