Bihar Election: From Call Centre Employee To Film Producer, This Candidate Has Joined The Poll Battle

Chetna Jhamb, known in Bhojpuri cinema circles as the producer of the popular film Begunah, has now stepped into the political arena. Contesting in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections as an independent candidate from the Samastipur constituency, she has emerged as a fresh face in local politics, driven not by sudden ambition but by six months of relentless public outreach, village visits and ground-level connect. Her political journey began with the Jan Suraj Party, but when she was denied a ticket, she chose to contest Bihar polls independently rather than step back. This decision, many say, reflects her courage and confidence, qualities that are being noticed by voters across the constituency. According to the affidavit filed during her nomination, Jhamb owns assets worth approximately Rs 3 crore. This includes Rs 1 lakh in cash, Rs 5 lakh in her HDFC Bank account, 2 kgs of gold, 1 kg of silver and a luxury car valued at around Rs 1 crore. Despite her financial status, she is known for her simple lifestyle and warm behaviour. Locals say she has remained grounded, using her success for public welfare and awareness drives rather than self-promotion. From Call Centre Employee to Film Producer Chetna Jhamb’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. A native of Samastipur, she began her career in Delhi, earning just Rs 3,000 per month at a call centre while continuing her studies. She later completed an air hostess course and, in a turn of fate, entered the film industry. Her breakthrough came when she produced the Bhojpuri film Begunah, starring Ritesh Pandey. Recently, she also shot parts of the film Anmol Ghadi in Samastipur, bringing pride to the district. Her rise from modest beginnings to becoming a recognised producer has made her a role model for small-town youth dreaming of big opportunities. Chetna’s Life History Chetna hails from Punjabi Colony in Samastipur, Bihar. She belongs to a middle-class family; her father, Chandra Prakash Jhamb, runs a garment business, while her mother, Vidya Jhamb, is a homemaker. This deep local connect has become her biggest strength in the political battle. Her increasing popularity in villages, strong support among women and youth, and acceptance across communities indicate that she is being seen not merely as a candidate but as a symbol of hope. Many residents fondly call her the “daughter of Samastipur”, a sentiment that has become her most valuable political capital.
