The scheme, which provides financial support to Class 12 pass students aspiring for higher education, earlier offered education loans up to Rs 4 lakh at 4% interest for general applicants and just 1% for women, differently-abled, and transgender students.
Sharing an update on social media, Kumar said that in the future, the loans provided under this scheme will be completely interest-free for all applicants.

For loans above Rs 2 lakh, the repayment tenure has been extended from 84 instalments (seven years) to 120 instalments (10 years).
