In what could be one of Indian television’s most exciting comebacks, Shilpa Shinde, the original Angoori Bhabhi from Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, may soon reprise her iconic role nearly a decade after first charming audiences. The makers are reportedly planning a major revamp of the fan-favourite sitcom, aiming to give it a fresh new twist while retaining its trademark humour. Shilpa Shinde to return as Angoori Bhabhi According to reports, Shilpa Shinde is in talks to return as Angoori Bhabhi, replacing Shubhangi Atre, who stepped into the role in 2016 after Shilpa’s exit. Times Of India quoted a source as saying, “Yes, there are talks for Shilpa to return as Angoori Bhabhi and everyone is hoping the deal materialises soon. The decision was made as everyone feels the show needs a revival. After running successfully for a decade, the channel wants to introduce new elements and characters to refresh Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai.” The source further added, “A new set is being built, and viewers can expect major changes in the storyline. The makers plan to begin shooting for Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0 by mid-December.” Both producer Binaiferr Kohli and Shilpa Shinde have not yet commented on the reports, but the buzz has already stirred excitement among fans who fondly remember Shilpa’s version of the quirky, innocent Angoori. More abiut Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai Shilpa originally played the role when Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai premiered in 2015 under Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli’s Edit II Productions. Her portrayal and catchphrase "Sahi pakde hain!" in her innocent tone became a pop culture phenomenon, turning her into a household name. She quit the show in 2016 following differences with the production house. For the uninitiated, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai (BGPH) is a Hindi sitcom that first aired on &TV in March 2015 and streams on ZEE5. It revolves around two neighbouring couples, the Mishras and the Tiwaris, whose hilarious attempts to woo each other’s spouses form the crux of its comedy. If all goes as planned, Shilpa Shinde’s return could mark the beginning of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0.
