TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The National Nutrition Body (BGN) will provide incentives to teachers who assist in distributing the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, a policy outlined in Circular Letter Number 5 of 2025 issued on Monday, September 28, 2025.BGN Deputy Head Nanik S. Deyang stated that this move is the government’s way of appreciating teachers for their strategic role in supporting the program, which targets schoolchildren, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.”As a form of appreciation for the additional tasks and responsibilities, incentives will be given to teachers in charge of the MBG program at schools,” Nanik said in an official statement on Monday, September 29, 2025.The incentive fund will be sourced from the operational costs of the Targeted Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) of the recipient schools. The incentive is set at Rp100,000 per day and will be disbursed every 10 days.Each receiving school must appoint one to three teachers to be responsible for MBG distribution. The school principal makes the appointment, prioritizing assistant and contract teachers and using a daily rotation system to ensure equitable implementation.Nanik stressed that the incentive is more than just financial compensation; it is a form of recognition for teachers’ dedication. The BGN hopes this policy will increase teacher motivation, enabling them to optimally ensure the smooth distribution of MBG and improve children’s nutritional status.This new policy comes after the Indonesian Education Monitoring Network (JPPI) complained to the House of Representatives’ Commission IX on September 22. JPPI had argued that teachers were the most disadvantaged party in President Prabowo Subianto’s priority program, having been burdened with uncompensated tasks.”The teachers were not involved at all. Suddenly, there was a lot of food arriving. Then the teachers were asked to count the containers and trays and distribute them.
