Bestselling horror author Stephen Graham Jones to speak at Longmont Museum

New York Times bestselling author and horror writer Stephen Graham Jones is scheduled to visit Longmont on Nov. 2, for a special author talk hosted by the Longmont Public Library at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. The event runs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and will include a Q&A moderated by ZBassSpeaks, the city of Lafayette’s poet laureate. Jones, a member of the Blackfeet Nation, has written nearly 35 books spanning horror, crime and speculative fiction. His novel “The Only Good Indians” earned the Ray Bradbury Prize for Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction and his more recent works, “My Heart Is a Chainsaw” and “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” have cemented his place as one of the most distinctive voices in modern horror literature. A Professor of Distinction in English at the University of Colorado Boulder, Jones has built a career blending dark storytelling with cultural depth and humor. His characters often explore themes of identity, survival, and community through chilling and imaginative narratives. Beyond his novels, Jones is known for his energetic and witty discussions of craft, horror, and the writing process, both in the classroom and at events across the country. Over the years, he has appeared at national literary gatherings such as the Brooklyn Book Festival, the National Book Festival, and Colorado’s own Telluride Horror Show. His blend of sharp insight and dry humor has made him a favorite among readers and fellow writers alike. Jones credits his prolific output to a steady habit of reading. “It’s just the garbage in/garbage out trick,” he said in a city news release. “If you’re not taking any fiction in, good or bad, then how can you be spitting any back out? I can hardly write a novel at all if I’m not reading just book after book.”
