Gamers love a good extraction shooter, and they really liked the Arc Raiders Playtest, which saw almost 190,000 peak players. A good extraction shooter nails down the risk-to-reward ratio and that’s something games like Arc Raiders aim to deliver – all while players blast the brakes off their opponents in intense action. Extraction shooters like Arc Raiders are often best played with friends. However, going solo is also a tense but rewarding experience. So whether you’re a single-player shooter or aim to go in with a squad, here are the best extraction shooters to play in celebration of Arc Raiders. The Escapist recaps The extraction shooter genre exploded into popularity over the last few years. The Arc Raiders playtest gave players a chance to try the game before committing. Extraction shooters typically are high-risk, high-reward games; players can lose everything earned in a round. The goal is to enter, loot, and fight to the extraction, taking valuable loot with you. Escape from Duckov Don’t be thrown off by its cute aesthetics and ducks; Escape from Duckov is a brilliant extraction shooter. The isometric view might be very different from Arc Raiders’ gameplay, but it is just as intense. If you like some basebuilding, then Escape from Duckov will scratch the itch. It’s a single-player title too, making it a relatively relaxing experience – no need to get the gang together for Duckov. The game has sold two million copies on Steam in a fortnight, making it a breakout success. The reason? The addictive gameplay loop. Plenty of players migrated from the Arc Raiders beta to try the game out and stayed for its unique story-based gameplay and large maps. There are five maps in the game with weather that impacts gameplay. Arena Breakout: Infinite Arena Breakout is a first-person extraction shooter that’s available on PC and mobile devices. Arc Raider PS5 and Xbox fans will have to wait for the free-to-play title to release at a later date. While in early access, the game shows signs of being the next big extraction shooter, but the jury is still out for now. The matches are short, full of action, but remain grounded in reality. Players enter maps called raids, gather loot, and extract safely. What sets the game apart from the competition is the hardcore realism. The guns have realistic mechanics with a good level of customization. Effects like hunger, thirst, and weight directly affect how your character works in a match. If you are looking for a realistic extraction shooter, Arena Breakout won’t disappoint. Escape from Tarkov Looking for something more hardcore and realistic? Then Escape from Tarkov is the extraction shooter made for you. Its slow, methodical gameplay, coupled with a dense atmosphere, Escape from Tarkov is a highly accurate military extraction shooter featuring real firearms and modifications. The game’s complex health system tracks each body part separately. You also need to manage vitals like energy and hydration. Each match lasts 20 to 50 minutes, and players are encouraged to memorise the maps. Minimal HUD, realistic graphics, and a high skill ceiling mean that a few will actually escape from Tarkov. Arc Raiders platforms include consoles, but Escape from Tarkov is a PC exclusive title. Hunt: Showdown 1896 Hunt: Showdown 1896 combines a standard extraction shooter with supernatural elements to create something unique. The 1896 version brings in new content and an updated graphics engine. Unfortunately, developers dropped support for last-generation consoles, but players with PS5’s, Xbox Series X|S and PCs can still dive into this densely atmospheric supernatural shooter.. The game is set in a corrupted version of Colorado and Louisiana in the late 19th century. If you like the style of Arc Raiders’ gameplay, you’ll love the elements of PvE in Hunt as well. Players follow clues to track down a boss monster, defeat it, and secure the bounty. All while other hunters are free to hunt them down in turn. It’s an intense mix of horror, multiplayer shooting, and, of course, making it to the extraction point. Delta Force Delta Force offers one of the best extraction shooter modes in recent times, and it does so while being a free-to-play title. Teams of up to three players enter the map, fight their way to valuable gear, and complete missions. The Operations mode in Delta Force is well designed with a solid rewards system, making it an addictive experience. Just like in Arc Riders gameplay, players can undertake specific missions to earn extra rewards. The Operations mode also includes variations like “Operation Blackout” and “Hazard Operation”, keeping the overall mode feeling fresh. There is also a dedicated PvE Raid mode for players looking for less intense gameplay. Ask The Escapist
