Compact fold: How easily does the highchair fold? Can you do it one-handed? Consider both the overall dimensions during use and the dimensions once folded, ensuring it is compact enough for your space. Some highchairs fold tall and narrow, while others are shorter and squat. Will it fit easily into a storage cupboard or behind a door when not in use?
Portability: How heavy is the highchair to move around your home? Some highchairs have wheels or castors, while clothes include carry straps to help you move between rooms.
Comfort: How comfortable is the seat, and can it be reclined for younger babies? Do the straps have padded covers?
Safety: How easy is it to secure your child? Is there a 3 or 5-point safety harness to hold them securely in place? Consider the overall sturdiness of the frame, with wide bases and non-slip grips, must-haves for use on hard flooring.
Adjustability: Can the height be adjusted to suit different tables? Can the footrest be lowered or raised to provide the best support?
Ease of cleaning: Weaning is a messy business, so look for fabrics that are water-resistant or easy to wipe down after use. Can the covers be removed entirely for more thorough cleaning? Can the tray be removed from the frame for cleaning? Consider whether the trays are dishwasher safe for the most low-maintenance choice.
Longevity: How much use will the chair provide compared to the overall cost? Can the highchair be used from birth or only when your baby can sit up ( approximately 6 months)? Can the design be adjusted to accommodate your toddler or older child?
