Benson Boone is pressing pause — at least for one night — on his American Heart World Tour after a sudden vocal setback left him unable to perform. The 23-year-old singer took to his Instagram Stories on Saturday, Nov. 1, to tell fans that his concert at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England, would not go on as planned—despite being less than an hour from showtime. “I am so sorry, but I will not be able to perform tonight,” Boone wrote. “I have tried everything I can to revive my voice, but I cannot give you the show I’d like to be able to give you with the condition of my throat right now.” Boone continued, calling it the “crappiest feeling,” and promised fans he’s already working with his team to reschedule the concert as soon as possible. Thank you for everything you do. I love you guys so much.” The Birmingham Utilita Arena added on X (formerly Twitter), “We’re sorry to share that Benson Boone’s show tonight… has been cancelled due to artist illness. We’re working through all possible options to reschedule. Ticket holders will be contacted directly as soon as we have an update. “We understand how disappointing this is and sincerely apologize for the extremely short notice and inconvenience caused. We’re sending Benson our very best wishes for a speedy recovery.” Vocal Coach Praises Boone’s Decision to Rest The “Beautiful Things” hitmaker’s vocal coach, Eric Vetro, left a supportive comment on Boone’s post, saying the singer made the right call. “Benson, you totally made the right decision!” Vetro wrote. “Not only would you have disappointed your audience because your voice is hoarse from being sick, but you would’ve run the risk of possibly damaging your vocal cords and even create a vocal hemorrhage by trying to force sound out. Then you would’ve had to cancel a lot of future shows.” He added that Boone “has never canceled before” and fans know the choice “wasn’t made lightly.” RELATED: Rock Icons Announce First Tour Since Beloved Drummer’s Death Fans React With Sympathy and Also Frustration Most fans showed compassion for Boone’s health, urging him to prioritize recovery over performance. “That’s what I’m worried about the most for him — long-term damage to his vocal cords if he forces himself to perform,” one fan wrote on X. “He needs to rest and get the best care possible right now.” RELATED: Fans Rally Around Oasis Legend After Cancer Announcement Another added, “Absolutely right, a voice is precious—you have to take care of it.” Still, a few concertgoers expressed frustration over the last-minute cancellation, especially those already at the venue. “Should’ve canceled in the a.m.! Not when fans were outside the venue,” one person posted. “This is poor from Benson and his team.” Boone’s World Tour Continues Through Europe Boone is currently in the middle of his European and U.K. leg, which includes three upcoming nights at The O2 in London (Nov. 3–5), followed by stops in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Norway and Sweden before heading to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Dec. 4. Just three days before the Birmingham show, Boone shared photos from Scotland, captioning them, “Glasgow, you are lovely.”
