Bennett Construction has reaffirmed its commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) with the successful retention of its Investors in Diversity Silver accreditation from the Centre for Diversity.
The reaccreditation places Bennett among organisations benchmarked against industry-leading standards, recognising its consistent efforts to embed inclusive practices across every part of the business.
“We first achieved Bronze accreditation in 2022, followed by Silver in 2023,” said Helena Kiernan, HR Director. “We chose to maintain the Silver accreditation as the evaluation process, particularly the comprehensive employee survey, aligns with our EDI Strategy. It was important for us to ensure that our people genuinely experience an inclusive workplace environment.”
Managing Director Paul Bruton highlighted the collective nature of the achievement. “We recognise that EDI is a journey, not a destination. Retaining our Investors in Diversity Silver accreditation reflects the collective commitment and hard work of our entire team. In the coming months, we look forward to collaborating closely with the Centre for Diversity to implement an action plan aimed at further enhancing our workplace culture.”
Beyond its internal initiatives, Bennett Construction is pushing for broader industry change. The company is actively promoting greater female participation in construction, including its role as Gold sponsor of the Construction Industry Federation’s International Women’s Day, and through educational initiatives such as the STEM Passport programme and its Constructing Careers: Schools Edition in partnership with Shay Murtagh.
These programmes aim to open access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for under-served communities and inspire students to explore careers in construction. Together, they reflect Bennett’s belief that progress depends not only on nurturing internal talent but also on creating opportunities for the next generation.
With its reaccreditation and ongoing partnerships, Bennett Construction continues to position itself at the forefront of efforts to build a more inclusive future for the sector.
