Bengaluru Couple Arrested For Murdering Landlady, Stealing Her Gold Mangalsutra

The Bengaluru Police have arrested a couple on charges of murdering their landlady and stealing her gold mangalsutra, NDTV reported. The incident was reported from Uttarahalli. According to the report, the victim was identified as Srilakshmi, who was found dead inside her residence on New Millennium School Road on Tuesday. Her body was first discovered by her husband, who works at an incense stick shop in Cottonpet. The report claimed the woman’s husband discovered her body later that evening after repeated phone calls went unanswered. She was found lying in the hall with injuries on her neck, lips, and face, and her gold mangalsutra was missing. As the police were informed, a case was registered and an investigation was launched. Subsequently, the police arrested the tenants, identified as Prasad Srishail Makai and his wife, Sakshi Hanumant Hoddur. Later, the couple confessed to killing the woman and fleeing with her jewellery. More investigations into the case are underway. In a separate case, a 32-year-old man was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly cheating a person of over Rs 24 lakh by promising quick solutions to personal problems through rituals advertised on Instagram. The accused, identified as Vasudeva R, a resident of Yeshwanthpur in Bengaluru and currently staying at Srinivasa Nagar in Sunkadakatte, was arrested on November 4. The case was registered at the Dakshina Kannada District Cyber Crime Police Station under the Information Technology Act and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, they said. Police seized four mobile phones and Rs 20,300 in cash, valued in total at Rs 1,60,300, from him. He was produced before a court on Wednesday and remanded to judicial custody.
