Bellampalli MLA G Vinod faces heat for staying away from constituency

Mancherial: Bellampalli MLA G Vinod has come under sharp criticism from both locals and Congress cadres for being inaccessible to the public and staying away from the headquarters of his Assembly segment.
At the time of elections, Vinod had taken an oath at a temple in Bellampalli town and gave a written promise that he would be accessible to the public by living in his own house in the constituency if elected. However, he has become a visitor to the constituency after winning the polls, drawing ire from the public and Congress cadres as well.
Significantly, the cadres held a meeting in the town and expressed their dissatisfaction against the legislator for being inaccessible. They opined that Vinod was bringing disrepute to the party by staying mostly in Hyderabad and neglecting the constituency. They regretted that he was ignoring party workers after getting elected.
Locals lamented that the MLA was disinterested in developing the constituency and addressing major challenges. They alleged that Vinod was not striving to fulfil his poll promises. They maintained that officials were showing negligence in resolving local problems as the legislator remained in Hyderabad. They recalled that he did not visit rain-affected areas except for Ramnagar in the town recently.
Some of Vinod’s poll promises included the creation of a bus depot and a medical college in Bellampalli, besides upgrading the government polytechnic college into an engineering college and providing employment opportunities for jobless youth by establishing industries. He had also assured improvement of roads, healthcare and education if elected.
Applicants of the Indiramma Housing scheme, Chief Minister Relief Fund and other initiatives are running from pillar to post seeking redressal of their grievances. They are left with no option but to meet Vinod in Hyderabad, spending heavily on travel and accommodation and losing precious time. They urged Vinod to mend his ways and be accessible by residing in the constituency headquarters.
The cadres further felt that Vinod should be accessible to the public and lay special focus on development of the segment at least from now onwards with elections to local bodies inching closer. Else, the prospects of the party would be affected, they remarked.
