Belfast takeaway fined after cockroach infestation

A Belfast takeaway has been fined after environmental health officers found an active cockroach infestation on its premises. Ginger Garlic Ltd, on Donegall Road, was fined £1,500 at Belfast Magistrates' Court and ordered to pay £264 in legal costs. The prosecution was taken by Belfast City Council following a routine hygiene inspection in September 2024. The takeaway was given a rating of one, indicating that major improvement was necessary to comply with food hygiene requirements.
