Dhenkanal: An unusual attack by bees has left at least seven people including some minors and an Anganwadi worker critically injured at Basulei village under Parajang police station limits of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district today.
A swarm of bees from a beehive reportedly stung the people while they were passing through the road along the Rengali canal today. Some of them even run for life by leaving their belongings on the road while some entered the roadside canal to escape from the attack of the bees.
The situation was so chaos and fearful that some of the bikers even left their two-wheelers and valuables on the middle of the road and run for their lives. However, all the victims including some minors suffered injuries in various parts of their bodies due to the bee attack, and most of the areas were swollen, said sources.
A group of residents from the Basulei village rushed to the spot after getting information about the bee attack and rescued the critically injured persons including Anganwadi worker Bhanumati Sahoo and rushed them to the Talcher-based Mandapal Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Their health condition continues to be critical.
Though the treatment of all the injured persons is underway, it is not known under what circumstances the bees flew from the beehive and stung the passersby.
Following the bee attack, panic engulfed the local residents who are now scared to pass-through the road as they are sacred of getting stung by the bees.
