Bed and furniture business continues growth by moving into larger store

A bed and furniture business has continued its growth by moving into a larger shop.

The Good Sleep Company in Banff has moved along the High Street from its old store into the former M&Co building.

The family business opened at 24 High Street in August 2016 and has been well supported by the community over the past nine years.

The move to 34 High Street has doubled the space and allowed owner Scott Birnie to offer customers more furniture and launch The Feet-Up Furniture Co.

Mr Birnie said: “We knew that the lease on the old shop was up this year. This place was available and I thought it wouldn’t do any harm to have a look.

“Once we’d looked at it, I didn’t think it was going to be a massive amount of work to get it up to standard, so we thought let’s go for it.

“The new shop has more floor space and it is over two floors.

“It’s allowed us to get more furniture in and to display things better. It’s enabled us to have things like a dedicated adjustable bed department and a better bedding offering as well.

“We also have dining tables, chairs and sofas, and it’ll also give us more flexibility to try different things in the future as well.”

Over the opening days Mr Birnie said the shop had been busy with customers coming in to have a look.

He added: “It has given us a better location in Banff, as it catches everyone’s eye.

“I’ve always said there is plenty of appetite for people to shop local. It’s also important to provide them with what they want and we’ve been well supported over the past nine years.

“As an independent business we have flexibility over the larger chain stores, as we can offer customers items from a supplier’s full range.”
