If you were one day handed a novelty-sized cheque worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, how would you spend it?

The answer, according to one family, is to spend a Day in the Life of The Beatles.

Stephen Ullah, 70, his wife Beverley, 62, their son Stephen, 44 and daughter Deon, 42, bagged more than £416,000 in the EuroMillions’ Lucky Dip.

They played as a National Lottery syndicate – a way for players to Come Together as a group to buy a pink ticket – so will pocket £104,000 each.

They kicked off their celebrations at the Hard Days Night Hotel, a Beatles-themed business in the band’s hometown of Liverpool.

Next on the itinerary was the Cavern Club, where the Beatles played their early gigs to only a few dozen people.

The band also first met their future manager, Brian Epstein, at the Cavern Club, a converted underground vegetable warehouse with a tiny stage.

The Ullahs, who run a local pub in Hull, Yorkshire, also swung by The Beatles Statue just near Pier Head.

The four bronze statues depict, well, the Fab Four: John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney and George Harrison.

Deon said: ‘We’re such big Beatles fans, so to celebrate in Liverpool – a city that we have so many family ties to – just made sense.’

‘We have so many memories already in Liverpool, including mum’s 50th at The Cavern and countless football days out, but this one tops them all.

‘It really is a magical mystery tour moment for us.’

The winners didn’t start their National Lottery syndicate Yesterday, though. They banded together in 2020 on Stephen Snr’s 65th birthday during the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic.

But their dream lottery win came close to not happening some five years later in August, when Stephen forgot to buy tickets.

Thankfully, Beverley refused to Let It Be and rushed out just minutes before the deadline to pick their lucky numbers.

‘I only just managed to buy the ticket in time – if I hadn’t nipped out at the last minute, we would have missed out completely,’ she said.

‘I checked the ticket the next day whilst the children and grandchildren were out.

‘Once I realised we’d won, I started running around the house dancing and screaming – Stephen thought I had gone crazy!’

Once they’re done twisting and shouting, Stephen Jr plans to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage and buy a new car.

Deon has already treated herself to a new motorhome and vehicle, while Beverley hopes to purchase an oven and enjoy more holidays.

Stephen Snr said: ‘We couldn’t believe it when we saw the numbers come up.

‘We’ve always played as a family syndicate and said, “one day it’ll be our turn”, so to have actually done it is just incredible.’
