Bears QB Caleb Williams Doesn't Hold Back After Beating Raiders

There has been plenty of criticism of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. Bust, overrated, soft, and everything else under the sun. Why? Well, Williams was viewed as a generational talent. Many believed he had a chance to come into the NFL and be a top-five to top-10 quarterback instantly. While that’s a bit unfair, given the significant differences between the NFL and college football, Williams had the skill set to do so.
Regardless, Williams is starting to show why some of the believers were right and why some of the doubters are wrong. Not only is he improving every week, but he’s also continued to say all the correct things. That includes his postgame comments on Sunday after the exciting Bears win over the Las Vegas Raiders, shouting out his entire team.
“It’s the fight we have for each other. We knew when we went to that locker room that wasn’t our brand of football. The defense kept us in it. The special teams and defense,” he said.
“Everybody stuck up for each other in the moments that we needed. We came out victorious in the end,” Williams said after the game.
Bears QB Caleb Williams Has More Confidence
Williams is starting to play with a bit more confidence, something that head coach Ben Johnson might’ve instilled. For the Chicago Bears over the next decade, if they’re going to be the team they want to be, both Johnson and Williams need to continue getting better every single day.
From the sound of things, Williams and the Bears’ head coach are a match made in Heaven, with him giving his coach nothing but love and appreciation for the relationship they’ve built.
“He and I talk and meet every single day after the day’s over,” Williams said, per Bears Wire. “That’s a part of it. Then obviously getting out there in the practice field builds a lot of confidence in him to be able to go and call the plays, whatever moment it is, whether we’re backed up or whatever. It’s him trusting me to be able to protect the football, maybe not take a safety or whether it’s fourth and four on the goal line. The trust between us, to be able to try and go get it. A lot of it is practice, and a lot of it’s us, the after hours that we spend here.”
The Bears Look Different From Years Past
If there’s been one positive for the Chicago Bears early in the 2025 season, it’s that this organization would typically lose games like the one they won on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. When was the last time a Bears quarterback drove down the field for a late touchdown to put their team ahead? It seems like it’s been a long time.
Many have pointed that out, including Erik Lambert of Sports Mockery, who had great things to say about the difference in the Bears right now.
“This is an unfamiliar feeling for Bears fans. They’ve been used to watching their quarterbacks crumble or come up short in those situations. Justin Fields was particularly notorious for it. People keep talking about Williams being mentally soft. Las Vegas was merely the latest,” he wrote.
Times might finally be changing for the Chicago Bears.
