BCCI to Fly Shreyas Iyer’s Sister to Sydney as Batter Recovers from Spleen Injury; Suryakumar Confirms Positive Update

Iyer, who had been in the ICU at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, was shifted out on Tuesday and is said to be in stable condition. The BCCI’s medical team will continue to monitor his recovery closely in the coming days. BCCI Ensures Top Medical Support According to The Times of India, the BCCI decided to bring Iyer’s sister to Australia to provide him with emotional and family support during his recovery period. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that Dr Rizwan Khan, the Indian team doctor, remains stationed in Sydney to oversee Iyer’s treatment. “The BCCI has done its best to help Shreyas out. Dr Rizwan is totally focused on Iyer’s treatment and recovery there. Shreyas has been put up in the best hospital in Sydney,” Saikia said. Suryakumar Yadav Confirms Recovery Progress Meanwhile, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav shared a positive update about Iyer’s health during a press conference in Canberra ahead of the five-match T20I series against Australia. “Iyer is in fine shape — eating solid food, walking without support, and taking phone calls,” Suryakumar said. The captain revealed that he had initially tried to contact Iyer after hearing of the injury but was later informed by team physio Kamlesh Jain that Iyer was stable. “We spoke to him after getting an update from the physio. He’s been replying to messages and talking to everyone now. It’s a great sign,” Suryakumar added. Team Support and Well-Wishes Mumbai and India all-rounder Shardul Thakur also confirmed that he had spoken to Iyer, noting that the batter “sounded stable and in good spirits.” The cricketing community has expressed an outpouring of support for Iyer, who has been a crucial middle-order presence for India. While his return timeline remains uncertain, early signs suggest a faster-than-expected recovery.
