The Great British Sewing Bee fans fumed “they’ve been robbed” as the 2025 winner was crowned. The finale of the beloved BBC series aired on Tuesday (September 16), and saw pattern-loving scientist Yasmin, two-time garment of the week winner Caz and 19-year-old Órla go head-to-head in numerous tasks. After completing three nail-biting challenges, host Sara Pascoe revealed that Caz had won the series , after impressing judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant. However, the show’s viewers were left unimpressed with the judges’ decision, as they felt that Órla or Yasmin should have won. “Caz won it, an absolute travesty. Shocking result!” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter ), with another adding: “The other girls were robbed.” A third said: “Gasp!” while another similarly shared: “Disappointed again with this year’s winner, should have been Órla.” Meanwhile, others shared their delight at Caz lifting the crochet trophy, with one person writing: “I would’ve been happy for any of them to win but Caz I think was the best in the final, her made to measure was amazing & deserved the win.” Another added: “Well done to Caz, what a lovely woman,” while a third said: “Amazing winner. She was always my favourite.” A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “Honestly any one of those finalists would have been a worthy winner but Caz’s made to measure was just exceptionally WOW! Congratulations Caz.” Earlier in the episode, Caz came last in the pattern challenge, which saw the finalists create a bias-cut dress with a cowl neck and spaghetti straps. However, she soon redeemed herself by coming first in the next task after transforming a selection of translucent tulle, organza and lace garments into a black-stripe motif dress. For the made to measure task, the finalists grappled with the art of trompe l’oeil, where they had to create illusions with fabric to fit their chosen friend or family member. Caz made a dress with an external ribcage and a heart as a gesture to the healthcare staff who looked after her when she had open heart surgery four years before. “I’ve gone and won something! I didn’t think I’d be able to do it. I remember that very first catwalk, phoning my husband up and going, ‘I’m literally in awe of these people,'” a stunned Caz said after her victory. “When I was a child, I loved sewing, and you have no fear as a child, you just sew anything. I think it’s really important to get that fun back. That’s why most of us sew. We sew for the sheer joy and the love of it, and I’ve got a lot of love for it. It’s brilliant, it’s truly, truly brilliant.” The Great British Sewing Bee is available to stream on BBC iPlayer
