BBC The Celebrity Traitors release date confirmed in first look teaser

The launch date for The Celebrity Traitors has now been confirmed in a teaser showing host Claudia Winkleman addressing contestants at the iconic roundtable. The 53-year-old presenter disclosed that the new series of the backstabbing competition will kick off on Wednesday, October 8, on BBC One and iPlayer . In the preview, famous faces, including former Olympic diving champion Tom Daley , actor Sir Stephen Fry , and Thursday Murder Club favourite Celia Imrie, can be spotted seated opposite their rival participants, while Claudia cautions them: “Don’t get comfortable.” She then adds: “This game doesn’t care who you are… In here, your glamorous lives count for nothing. Most of you will be murdered. Sorry about that.” The roster for the programme features funnymen Alan Carr and Nick Mohammed, TV host Jonathan Ross, sports broadcaster Clare Balding and vocalist Paloma Faith. During the series, 19 celebrity participants will assemble in the Scottish Highlands, competing for a monetary reward of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choosing. Other stars joining the ensemble include ex-England rugby star and podcast host Joe Marler, performer Tameka Empson, Welsh songstress Charlotte Church, actress Ruth Codd, and recording artist Cat Burns. Completing the line-up are also comedy performers Lucy Beaumont and Joe Wilkinson, academic David Olusoga, Good Morning Britain anchor Kate Garraway , social media sensation Niko Omilana and Scottish performer Mark Bonnar. Discussing the celebrities, Claudia previously said: “We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. “I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.” The psychological game format will launch its inaugural celebrity series with an extended opening episode, running for 70 minutes. The programme will broadcast twice weekly, on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 9 pm. Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked will transmit on BBC Two straight after the main show and will also be accessible on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer. Comedian and host of the video podcast Ed Gamble will be accompanied by the celebrities and contestants from earlier series to examine and respond to developments in the programme. It has also been confirmed that The Traitors will return for a fifth series before the fourth series arrives in 2026, and applications are now open to the public. The new teaser for The Celebrity Traitors was shown at the end of the Strictly Come Dancing launch show on Saturday night. The celebrities will compete for a whopping cash prize of up to £100,000, which will go to a charity of their choosing.
