Alice Taylor has been appointed head of BBC Studios‘ newly-launched AI Creative Lab. The exec joins from Disney, where she led the StudioLAB program. In her new role, Taylor will execute the “strategic roadmap” for the BBC‘s AI studio, serving as the principle advocate for AI in creative production. At a time where fear is heightened around AI’s impact on the industry and just how much it might come to dominate our content, Taylor will ensure the Lab’s output is “innovative, ethical, editorially sound and technically robust.” She will also be tasked with building a small, specialist team of AI creatives, technologists, and producers to support the Lab’s mission and foster experimentation across the global content studio’s genres. The AI Creative Lab is a new initiative designed to supercharge innovation across BBC Studios’ global production operation. “It will act as a dedicated hub for experimentation — bringing together AI specialists, creative talent, and producers to explore how AI can unlock new possibilities, from concept development to production workflows,” a description read. The Lab will support teams across scripted, unscripted, global productions, audio, and kids & family genres. Zai Bennett, CEO and chief creative officer at BBC Studios Productions, said: “Alice brings a rare blend of creative vision and technical expertise, and we’re thrilled to welcome her back to the BBC.
