BBC viewers eagerly awaiting the latest episode of The One Show were met with a warning just moments in to the programme. Lauren Laverne and Alex Jones were serving as hosts on Monday night's edition (October 3). As they ran through the agenda, they were quick to give show fans a head's up about an emotional moment coming up. The duo shared that they would be catching up with 21-year-old Lloyd Martin from The One Show's Challenge Squad, who became the youngest person with Down's syndrome to complete a marathon back in 2024. His next challenge is taking on a triathlon for Children in Need despite not being able to ride a bike or swim far. "We'll also see the touching moment that Lloyd bravely stands in front of the Strictly audience and to tell them why he's taking on this epic challenge," Alex shared. Quick to jump in with a warning, Lauren added: "Oh yeah it's gorgeous that film. Tissues at the ready though." Later in the show the film went into more detail about Lloyd's journey, including his experience being bullied as well as his health struggles - including eye injections to help his vision - and triumphs. As part of his fresh fundraising challenge, he was invited along to the Strictly Come Dancing studio to address the audience with the moment broadcast on tonight's One Show. In the speech he recalled his health challenges and praised contestant Ellie Goldstein who became the first dancer with Down's syndrome on the show. Hosts Alex and Lauren admitting the footage had brought them to tears, as Alex confessed: "Isn't Lloyd amazing? It's just as well we saw that earlier on because we had a really good cry." The One Show’s Challenge Squad is a group of four inspirational young people who have benefitted from BBC Children in Need funding and are now taking on challenges to help make a difference to young lives. Speaking about his involvement in the group, Lloyd shared: "I want to show the world what I can do, and that people with Down syndrome can do anything if they have support. Stepping Stones DS is a charity that is supported by BBC Children in Need. "They have helped me grow in confidence and get the most out of life. I want to show the world that if you follow your dreams, and have the right support, anything is possible." Meanwhile The One Show host Alex added: "It’s an absolute joy to be back with the Challenge Squad this year. These young people are truly remarkable - full of courage and determination. "I’m so proud to be working with them and helping to share their stories with the nation. The challenges they’re taking on are no small feat, but we know they’ll each give it everything they’ve got." The One Show airs on BBC One and iPlayer weeknights from 7pm
