Baylor AD, CFP Chairman Mack Rhoades Investigated by School: Report

If being the athletic director of Baylor University wasn’t a high-profile enough gig for Mack Rhoades, he also took on the chairman position of the College Football Playoff as well. So it should come as no surprise that any little slip up Rhoades may have will be subject to intense scrutiny by a large number of people, which is bad news for Rhoades given a recent report that came to light by Trey Wallace of OutKick. According to Wallace, Rhoades was recently investigated by Baylor for two incidents involving a player and an assistant coach — both back in September during Baylor’s Big 12 conference matchup against Arizona State. The player incident involved tight end Michael Trigg, who reportedly drew the wrath of Rhoades for wearing a long sleeve yellow shirt under his jersey to cover his shoulder brace. Rhoades allegedly shouted “What the [expletive] are you wearing that yellow shirt for?” at Trigg seconds after the game kicked off. Wallace also reported that “assistant coaches were trying to calm Trigg down regarding the incident that had occurred.” More Football: Colorado AD Issues Statement on Deion Sanders Not Meeting Expectations More Football: Jaxson Dart’s Dad Fuels Lane Kiffin-New York Giants Rumors Trigg finished the game with five catches and a team-high 71 yards and two touchdowns. It was Trigg’s only multi-touchdown game of the season. After the Arizona State game ended — a 27-24 loss for Baylor — Rhoades reportedly grabbed an assistant coach by the arm and shoulder/neck area and “verbally accosted” him in front of multiple witnesses. Wallace also reported OutKick obtained HR complaints filed after the incident, which allegedly provided further clarity on what actually happened. Baylor conducted an investigation into the alleged incidents, and the school released a statement acknowledging as much. Mr. Rhoades is an important part of our Baylor family, and we look forward to his continued leadership of our Athletics Department. We remain committed to ensuring a respectful and accountable environment for all of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.”
