Recapping games involving Essexville Garber and John Glenn, Bay City area teams competing in the Tri-Valley Conference.
SWAN VALLEY 28, JOHN GLENN 7
John Glenn’s blazing start hit a bump in the road.
Saginaw Swan Valley never allowed the Bobcats to get rolling, sidetracking them with a 28-7 setback in Tri-Valley Conference Red action.
“We didn’t capitalize on three or four interceptions in our hands that we didn’t bring in,” Glenn coach Jon Horton said. “The other side did, which flipped the game.
“We have to take that next step where we finish drives and take the ball away when there are opportunities.”
Glenn got a 6-yard touchdown run from Bradley Boyk in the second quarter, sending the game into halftime deadlocked at 7-7. But the Bobcats (3-1, 2-1) never got on the board again.
Swan Valley led 21-7 through three and stymied Glenn’s trademark fourth-quarter outbursts.
“We moved the ball pretty well all night,” Horton said. “We just couldn’t capitalize with points on the scoreboard.
“Hopefully, this is a learning opportunity for our kids with some big games on the horizon.”

FRANKENMUTH 61, ESSEXVILLE GARBER 0
Playing Frankenmuth hasn’t been a good experience for Essexville Garber.
But the Dukes are not alone.
No. 3-ranked Frankenmuth continued its incredible dominance of Tri-Valley Conference Red foes, steamrolling the Dukes 61-0.
“We didn’t get off the bus tonight to play,” Garber coach Dave Matthews said. “It was a complete opposite of the effort we gave last week vs. John Glenn.
“We are getting some roster attrition, but we can’t use that as an excuse to play like we did tonight.”
Frankenmuth (3-1, 3-0) led 20-0 after one quarter and 54-0 at the half. It marked the fourth straight meeting with Garber in which the Eagles scored 50 or more points.
Frankenmuth sent five different players to the end zone with rushing touchdowns and scored three times on returns. Cash Tedford and E.J. Bernthal returned punts for TDs while Brady Hale delivered a pick-six.
Garber (2-2, 0-2) was led by Dominick Knezek, who rushed for 50 yards on 11 carries and added 29 yards on two receptions. Ethan Pett was 6 of 12 passing for 90 yards, hitting Charlie Maze twice for 44 yards.
