Bauchi APC group strategises for 2027 gubernatorial race

A group known as the Bauchi State APC Credibility Forum has declared that it is strategising and focusing on identifying an acceptable candidate within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly for the governorship seat. The declaration was made by the Acting Chairman of the Forum, Honourable Dan’Umma Bello, shortly after an emergency meeting held in Bauchi on Saturday. Dan’Umma Bello explained that the Forum deemed it necessary to convene a meeting of all concerned stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to discuss the way forward towards producing a credible and formidable candidate capable of winning the governorship election in the state. He further stated that the APC currently has five credible and inclusive aspirants. However, the main objective of the Forum, he emphasised, is to ensure that the party clinches the governorship seat through the ballot box. According to him, the APC remains the most widely accepted political party across Bauchi State. He therefore stressed the need for unity and sincerity of purpose, noting that without these, the party would not achieve its desired objectives at any level. According to him, among those represented were the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate; Alhaji Bala Hadis; Senator Shehu Buba Umar; Alhaji Muhammadu Ṣadé; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Alhaji Dauda Shehu Mohammed; former Bauchi State Governor, M.A. Abubakar (SAN); Ibrahim Abdullahi Bauchi; and Honourable Gazali Abubakar Wunti, who represented Alhaji Nura Manu Soro. He added that the representatives of the contenders also presented their unity forum, sharing the same vision of developing the state under the APC platform at both state and national levels. Bello concluded by noting that several key party stakeholders at the state level attended the meeting and urged all members to respect diverse opinions in order to ensure the party’s success in Bauchi State.
