Bauchi State Police Command has denied that the house of Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ribina West in Toro LGA of Bauchi State was set ablaze by protesting youths in the area. The denial of the story was made by the Command PPRO, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, while reacting to the story in the social media urging the public to disregard the story. According to him, “On the 26th October, 2025, there was a social m publication by one Auwal No More which went viral alleging that a violent protest took place at Tallam village, Ribina West, Toro LGA, of Bauchi State, expressing grievances over the imposition of a new District Head for Ribina West but the palace will be situated at Gulfada village.” He also stated that,” They also alleged that the imposition of the District Head was the handwoork of some politicians in the area, particularly the Chairman of PDP in Ribina West. They attempted to set his house on fire in the village.” The PPRO added that, “On the receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer in Toro Division and the Area Commander, Toro to intensify efforts to ensure that nothing criminal happened.” According to him,” Deployment was made immediately as a Patrol team sent and in collaboration with the Emir of Toro and other traditional rulers in the area were summoned and a meeting was held on how to douse the tension.” During the meeting, the new Emir of Toro dismissal the situation as fake news, saying no any new District in the area and assured them that they will be carried along during the process of nomination of any traditional ruler in the area,” he added. Ahmed Mohammed Wakil added that,” The Command under the leadership of the CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has warned the conveyors of fake news and other peddles to desist from doing so. They should misinformation and disinformation. The Command is ready to implement the Cybercrimes law on anyone found culpable.” He added that, “Presently, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander to and the DPO Toro to intensify efforts to arrest and prosecute the peddler and source of the misinformation.” The PPRO assured that as soon as he was arrested the Command will arraign him in the court in order to face the criminal offence of Cybercrime as contained in the law, 2015. When asked about the house said to have been set ablaze, the PPRO categorically said, “No, it is not the PDP Chairman’s house. That was what transpired in the village as I had told you.” Speaking further, he emphasised the fact that the news was fake and should be disregarded by members of the public urging them to go about their lawful businesses as the area is now relatively peaceful and should not be intimidated by any miscreant.
