Battlefield 6 developers have explained why they added the quick turn feature in the game.
For those unaware, Battlefield 6 features a feature in Battlefield 6 that allows players to perform a complete 180-degree turn with the press of a button. Many players found this feature too overpowered, and some had also dubbed it cheating. The developers have finally explained why BF6 features the quick turn mechanic.
Battlefield 6’s Quick Turn Mechanic is Officially Called ‘Flick Stick’ and Was Added for Balancing Purposes
During a new interview with Kotaku, senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson spoke about Battlefield 6’s quick turn feature. Nickerson explained that one of the “inherent issues” with aim assist on controllers is that players need to perform a big sweeping motion when looking around. Moreover, even when going at full speed, controller players are slowed down due to bubbles of aim assist. This makes it challenging to make 180-degree turns quickly.
Nickerson adds that introducing the quick turn feature for Battlefield 6 resolved “a lot of issues” and was a “huge win”. The combat designer also spoke about how “frustrating” it can be to be a controller player when you are constantly being shot in the back. The quick turn for BF6 has been officially named ‘Flick Stick’. There was another reason for adding this feature, and that was to allow the player to execute some “really cool stuff.”
In other news, Battlefield 6’s class system has “moved beyond” what we saw in the open beta. Additionally, the developers have confirmed that Battlefield 6 features a console-only crossplay mode.
