Battlefield 6 Devs Confirm Console-Only Crossplay Mode

Battlefield 6 developers have revealed that a console-only crossplay mode is in development, along with other details about the feature.

Many players were concerned about Battlefield 6’s crossplay mode, wondering whether there might be a feature that allowed console players to matchmake only against other console players. Fortunately for them, the developer has confirmed that BF6 has a console-only crossplay mode.

When Crossplay is Off, PlayStation Players Can Still Play with Xbox Players on Battlefield 6

During a new interview with IGN, technical director Christian Buhl and senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson spoke about Battlefield 6’s crossplay mode and confirmed the console-only feature. Nickerson first explained that crossplay is a simple toggle that can be found in-game. Moreover, for preference input, if a console player is matchmaking, the lobby will provide preference to other console players “in a set time frame” and then fill up the rest of it, if required, with PC players.

Nickerson added that Battlefield 6 has crossplay on by default, and players need to turn it off manually. Once turned off, the BF6 console-only crossplay is enabled, allowing PlayStation players to play with Xbox players; however, PC players will not be part of the lobby. Therefore, if you are playing with crossplay on consoles, console players will be given priority. If you have it off, then only PlayStation and Xbox players will be included in the lobby.

In other news, scam links for Battlefield 6’s battle royale playtests have surfaced on Reddit. Also, the game has added another Limp Bizkit song, ‘Making Love to Morgan Wallen‘.
