The battle royale genre is pretty saturated, but Battlefield 6 fans were still excited to see its take on it. Battlefield Redsec was released today and it's actually bringing a new spin on the battle royale genre for more hardcore FPS players. So, 100 players (25 squads or 50 duos) drop into Fort Lyndon (a beachy suburb town in California near a military base) and must fight to be the final survivor. What sets Battlefield Redsec apart? It's the biggest Battlefield map to date, but it'll get smaller and smaller as the circle of fire closes. Unlike other battle royales, Redsec basically kills you if you step into the wall of flames. That means no lurking behind in burning buildings or luring enemies into the fire, making Battlefield Redsec a lot more absolute. Another interesting component of Redsec is that Battlefield 6's class system still plays a part, which adds to the team strategy. This means Assault players still have ladders and Support players still have health regeneration. In Redsec, these abilities can be upgraded and gear can be unlocked, amping up the competitiveness. Redsec also has missions, so you can attempt to access weapons or combat vehicles if you can somehow complete them without dying. So, there's definitely some cool stuff to check out if you're a fan of battle royales but don't want the goofy skins.
