Baton Rouge Music Studios will host a grand opening on Sunday for BRMS Creative, a new community-focused creative hub designed to serve musicians, students and creative professionals across the region.
The event will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at BRMS Creative, 11919 Sunray Avenue, Baton Rouge. The public is invited. The grand opening is exclusively at the Sunray Avenue location — not the Mid City Government Street studio.
The gathering will showcase:
Student and faculty performances across multiple genres;
Live recording sessions that bring the studio experience into the spotlight;
Studio tours offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process;
Interactive music stations for kids and families;
Partnership collaborations with local schools, businesses and nonprofits;
The wide range of programs offered at BRMS Creative, including private and group lessons, solo artist and band mentorships, musical theatre classes, songwriting and audio production — available separately or in combination — plus birthday parties and customized workshops for groups ranging from K–12 field trips to corporate team-building sessions.
Founded in 2006, BRMS began as an after-school lesson program with just a handful of students. Over the years, it grew into an established creative education center, offering private instruction, rock and pop band mentorships, and student performance opportunities throughout the region.
Former BRMS students have gone on to tour nationally, work for recording studios, join booking agencies, and build careers across the music industry, according to a BRMS news release.
The new BRMS Creative was born out of the desire to expand beyond lessons and band mentorships, creating a full ecosystem where young artists and professionals can engage in the real-world creative process. The new hub combines music education, recording and production facilities, live performance spaces and collaborative programming under one roof.
A soft opening began in March.
“BRMS Creative represents the next chapter of our vision,” said Doug Gay, founder of Baton Rouge Music Studios. “This is more than a music school. It’s a place where artists of all ages can collaborate, record, perform and grow. We believe Baton Rouge deserves a vibrant hub for creative expression, and we’re thrilled to open our doors to the community. … Now it’s time to expand our practice field to include digital and print media, and recording and videography technology — all of the tools creatives use in the real world. The projects we create with our students today are preparing them to collaborate with peers in the workforce tomorrow.”
