‘Lagniappe’
Tickets are on sale for the first production in Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s 2025-26 season, “Lagniappe,” featuring the return of the company’s alumna, Adrienne Simmons, as a special guest artist, at 7 p.m. Oct. 2, in the Baton Rouge Magnet High School auditorium, 2825 Government St.
The show features beloved ballet classics and brand new contemporary works.

The Louisiana Art & Science Museum, 100 S. River Road, will host its next Free First Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5. Visitors can enjoy free admission to the museum and a special $5 rate for unlimited shows at the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium.

‘Art of Us Together’
In October, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge will launch “The Art of Us Together,” a large-scale participatory art project that transforms portraits of local residents into living public art installations.
As part of the Inside Out Project, the world’s largest global participatory art initiative created by internationally acclaimed artist JR, residents of Baton Rouge will be invited to sit for free portraits that will be printed on-site and installed on the sides of buildings across the city.

Textile & Costume Museum
The LSU Textile & Costume Museum, Human Ecology Building, 330 Tower Drive, LSU campus, will host an opening reception at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 for its new exhibit, “Dressing Louisiana: Histoires de la mode de la Louisiane.”
This exhibition celebrates the myriad ways in which the people of Louisiana created and utilized fashion as a tool in the formation of identity and in the celebration of life’s joy and beauty. Included in the exhibit are the works of Louisiana artists and designers Ray Cole and Geoffrey Beene, a selection of first lady gowns (including the recently acquired inaugural gown of first lady of Louisiana Sharon Landry), garments worn by Donna Douglas, Mardi Gras ensembles and accessories and more.

In West Baton Rouge
The West Baton Rouge Museum, 845 N. Jefferson Ave., Port Allen, is showing the exhibits “An American War in Vietnam” through Dec. 30; “Weaving Nature: Louisiana’s Native American Basketry” through Dec. 28; and “Angela Gregory: The Allen Monument” through July 19.

Animals in Art
The 31st annual International Exhibition on Animals in Arts will open with a reception at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, Skip Bertman Drive, LSU campus.
The exhibit will be on display from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Oct. 31. Admission is free.

At the Old Capitol
Louisiana’s Old State Capitol is showing the exhibit “Vietnam Experience: 50th Anniversary of the End of the War” through Dec. 20.
Also, the museum will be hosting the author talk “Were You There? A Biography of Emma Wakefield Paillet,” featuring authors Phebe Hayes and Margaret Simon at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 5. Admission is free.

At LSU galleries
The LSU School of Art is hosting the exhibit “Disk Full,” featuring work by Christine Bruening & Janna Ahrndt through Oct. 19 at the Glassell Gallery in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St., Baton Rouge.
The LSU College of Art & Design and The Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture are showing “Field Recordings” by XYZ Collective through Oct. 4 in the Clark and Laura Boyce Gallery on campus.
Finally, the LSU College of Art & Design is hosting the doctor of design thesis exhibition “Emoji, Stop Scrolling!” by Thras Kalaitzidis through Oct. 3 in the Barnes Ogden Gallery on campus. Coinciding with this exhibit will be an artist’s talk followed by a performance and reception beginning at 5 p.m. Oct. 3.

Readers theater
Tickets are on sale for the third play in Cité des Arts’ Readers Theater Series, focusing on plays from the classical theater. The third play will be a reading of “Pericles, Prince of Tyre” by George Wilkins and William Shakespeare — directed by Joe Riehl at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at Cité des Arts, 109 Vine St., Lafayette.
