Torrevieja, 30 October 2025 – A high-octane police chase through the streets of Torrevieja ended with the arrest of two men, aged 25 and 33, after a reckless pursuit that left a pedestrian injured and multiple cars damaged. The suspects, caught in a web of their own chaotic decisions, abandoned their vehicle barefoot, leaving behind the sandals they had been wearing during the mad flight. The drama unfolded on 13 October when officers from the Guardia Civil’s Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) were conducting routine patrols on one of Torrevieja’s main avenues. Spotting a suspicious vehicle, the officers followed discreetly—but the suspects soon took off, performing dangerous zigzag maneuvers at high speed, endangering other road users at every turn. During the reckless pursuit, the car collided with a pedestrian, leaving the victim with minor injuries, and later crashed into two parked vehicles. Seizing the opportunity to escape, the pair fled on foot, one tossing a green package containing ten plastic-wrapped blocks of hashish, totaling nearly a kilogram, as they disappeared into the streets. A large-scale search ensued, and both men were eventually apprehended by police. One of the suspects violently resisted arrest, injuring an officer in the struggle. Authorities confiscated 978 grams of hashish, two mobile phones, €305 in cash, and the getaway car, all of which have been handed over to the judicial authorities. The suspects now face an array of charges including drug trafficking, reckless driving, assault, serious disobedience, and attacking a police officer. Following their court appearance, both were released under precautionary measures. The Guardia Civil emphasized that this incident highlights the importance of intensified police presence in high-traffic and sensitive areas of Torrevieja to protect residents and prevent further criminal activity. “This chaotic episode is a stark reminder that crime, however bold or reckless, will be met with decisive action,” stated a local spokesperson. “We will continue our operations to safeguard public safety and maintain the peace across the municipality.” Torrevieja residents can rest assured that the authorities are on high alert, ready to respond to threats and ensure the streets remain safe—even in the face of barefoot chases and high-speed escapes.
