Barcelona favourites to sign 12G/A Tottenham target in 2026

Barcelona surge ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Ligue 1 star Mason Greenwood Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in another forward in 2026 as the management at Hotspur Way looks to hand Thomas Frank the best possible players for the Dane head coach. And there have been links with a possible move for Man United academy graduate Mason Greenwood. The 24-year-old Englishman has been playing some exceptional football in the French top tier with Olympique de Marseille. Greenwood signed for Marseille in 2024 for around £26.5 million. And he has been developing his abilities quite on the right track in Ligue 1, given his tally of eight goals and four assists in 12 appearances this season. And this consistency in front of goal has led a lot of clubs to express interest in his signature, with Premiership rivals West Ham United among the clubs linked with his signature alongside Tottenham Hotspur. But according to the report from TEAMtalk, Spanish giants Barcelona are said to be leading the race for his signature. Barcelona think that, given his ability to operate across the frontline, Greenwood could be an ideal candidate to lead the charge of the next wave of forwards at Camp Nou. Tottenham are also looking at Greenwood The North Londoners have been looking for a versatile profile upfront, someone who has that capacity to not only be among goals but also add those physical attributes to the attack. And we know how much Thomas Frank values a mix of those two things; all of his Brentford sides boasted such forwards. And given his attributes, the 24-year-old could be an interesting player to be looking at purely from his footballing skillset. TTLB Opinion I don’t care about his footballing attributes; given the things he has done off the field, it draws a line. And Tottenham Hotspur is a family club, one that values culture and values. There is a whole community of hard-working men and women behind this club. To bring him in at Hotspur Way would be a disrespect to most of the things that this football club stands on. He may come for a good fee, and he may have the capacity to win Tottenham titles; none of that matters. Not in this football club. There is a whole lot more than just silverware, and it is better he stays as far away from Hotspur Way as possible.
